1. Single scull
The length of the stroke plays a very important role in the gearing ratio. Race in single scull is a bit long and mistakes in catch and gearing ratio can be fatal.
2. Coxless pair
Reduce sneaking by defining right-individual ( sometimes not the same ) angles for rowers in coxless pairs. We don't need to mention the gearing ratio in this asymmetric discipline. Right?
3. Other boats
When did you have the perfect 2,4,8 athletes? Same physiology, same anthropology? So, our job is to make perfect crews with imperfect athletes. That is the magic we are looking for. Even they are not the same size they can row the same angle length with a similar gearing ratio. That is where we see the beauty of rowing sport.
